Summer 2026 ROAR Academy

UC Berkeley’s FHL Vive Center is thrilled to announce the Summer 2026 ROAR Academy program – an exciting opportunity for high school students passionate about exploring the realms of Python programming and its applications in reinforcement learning, machine learning, and autonomous driving algorithms. The ROAR Academy is an on-site day program on the UC Berkeley campus. (Need-based financial aid options are available.)

About ROAR Academy:

The ROAR Academy is an intensive and rigorous two-week (10 days) in-person coding summer program, designed exclusively for high school students. In collaboration with the FHL Vive Center, the goals of the academy are to support high school students learning about Python programming, autonomous driving algorithms, and other topics including machine learning and large language models (LLMs). Participants acquire the knowledge necessary to engage in ROAR simulation competitions, which are conducted in a software simulation environment known as the Simulation Racing Series. Students get to race their autonomous driving agents and compete in a simulation racing competition.

At the end of the program, students receive a certificate of completion and are eligible to apply to become ROAR Ambassadors and participate in ROAR competitions and seminars.

2026 Session:

2026 will feature one session from July 6 – 17 (M-F, from 9-3pm).
